Introduction

The school we analyzed is North Kingstown High School which is located in the district, North Kingstown. North Kingstown High school was founded in 1901 and holds 1407 students and 147 teachers. North Kingstown High school has a 1.14 teacher to student ratio and has a fantastic principal, Dr.Denise Mancieri and Superintendent, Philip Auger. This is a public high school, who educates mainly North Kingstown residents from grades 9-12. It is located at 150 Fairway Drive, North Kingstown, RI. Their school spirt and athletics are very important, and their mascot is a "Skipper".

North Kingstown High school displays a mission statement that helps their students by providing them with a learning environment and different experiences that will help them grow into effective communicators, problem solvers, independent thinker, attire citizens, skillful collaborators, and self-directed lifelong learners.

North Kingstown is a wealthy community. Between 2009-2013 the median household income was $80,530 which is higher than Rhode Islands state media household income. Rhode Islands median household income is $56,361 which is also higher than the US median household income ($53,046). The median family income in our community is $100,657 which is significantly higher than both Rhode Island ($72,717) and the US ($64,719). In addition the per capita income ($40,855) is greater than Rhode Island ($30,469) as well as the US with a $28,155 per capita income. Moreover, both the families and people below poverty income has a lower percentage than Rhode Island and US.

In the pie chart above it shows that the majority of North Kingstown's people are white, while a small percentage are African American (1.7%), Asian (3.9%), Hispanic or Latino (2.5%), and American Indian and Alaska Native (0.5%). After finding this data both Rhode Island and US are more diverse than North Kingstown.

In the table above it 3% of Rhode Islands child population lives in North Kingstown, with that being said majority of the children do not live in single parent families. The median family income (2009-2013) is about $40,000 higher than the state of Rhode Islands income. While North Kingstown's median family income is higher the percentage of children living in families below the federal poverty level threshold: 2009-2013 is about 8.5% lower than the states.

In the chart above, there is a decent amount of children under the age of nineteen receiving medical assistance in North Kingstown. The teen birth rate is 9 whereas in Rhode Island it is 21, which is more than half of North Kingstown. There is a low percentage of infants born at risk from both North Kingstown and Rhode Island. This data is mainly because North Kingstown is a wealthier town that educates the community about the dangers of poverty.

In the chart above, you can see that both North Kingstown and Rhode Island have similar percentages in domestic violence, child abuse, and neglect. In North Kingstown these characteristics are not as common as some other cities and towns in Rhode Island.


District Summary

North Kingstown High school is one of the top schools in Rhode Island to revive the highest SAT and NECAP consecutively for the past years. This is a great school for children to grow up and get a great education. It is a safe community with a lot of opportunities for both children and families. In this district there is 8 different schools ranging from elementary to high school. There are also 4088 students enrolled in this district along with 541 teachers. The test scores in this district are very high and it has a great sense of community. Attendance in all three school levels are nearly perfect and chronic absenteeism is very low.

As you can see above, North Kingstown High School has a very high attendance rate and a very low drop out rate. As a district, this is looked at very well on the community. North Kingstown has a 95% attendance rate whereas the state of Rhode Island has an attendance rate of 86%. The percentages for students who drop out are both very low, North Kingstown being 5% and Rhode Island as a whole being 8%.

In the chart above, North Kingstown is very stable with the amount of kids who graduate within 4 years. North Kingstown has a 89% graduated within 4 years rate right below Barrington
School which has a 94% rate. Rhode Island as a whole has a high percentage rate with 80.7% of students who've graduated within 4 years. Well under Rhode Island is Central Falls which has a little over half (56.3%). Compared to Barrington and North Kingstown School, Central Falls has a significantly higher percentage of students who drop out before their four years.


SAT Exams

In the graph above, it is evident to see that North Kingstown High school along with Barrington School scored very high in the mid- 500s almost reaching the 600s. Central Falls school falls in the mid 400s. As you can see, the wealthier towns score higher SAT scores as well as on exams. The more money the town has the more resources the students are exposed to.

As you can see above, the data for North Kingstown High school has very good numbers when it comes to preparing children for school and education. North Kingstown has high NECAP and SAT scores all around. This is hard to find because usually schools have scores all over the place, but in North Kingstown, the scores are high and stable. Even though they are not the highest data in these sets, overall North Kingstown excels in preparing the students for academic success.


Conclusion
North Kingstown is a great place to raise a family and feel part of a strong community. They are a well educated and wealthy town, which makes it easier to achieve success in school. As you can see from the data above, North Kingstown High school has high graduation rates, high SAT scores, high NECAP scores, and high AP scores. This is a great place to send your child if you would like them reach that academic success they deserve. As a community, they are a strong and reliable community which is perfect to raise a family in!
